A new study revealed that stopping daily walks or reducing physical activity can negatively impact both body and mind, despite walking being one of the simplest and most effective healthy habits.

The study warned that the absence of this activity is linked to an increased risk of chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease, in addition to declining mental health and a higher likelihood of anxiety and depression.

“Insufficient walking also leads to decreased mobility over time, reduced bone density, and negative effects on brain function, increasing the risk of dementia,” added the study.

Experts emphasize that even a few minutes of walking daily, 10 to 15 minutes, can make a tangible difference, contributing to improved mood, enhanced fitness, and overall well-being.

The activity doesn't have to be limited to walking; it can be compensated for by any regular physical movement, with a focus on reducing sedentary time and gradually increasing activity levels.
