The Iraqi national football team has moved up one place to rank 57th in the latest global standings released by FIFA for April.

According to a statement by the Iraqi Football Association, the team now holds a total of 1,477.14 points in the monthly rankings.

The statement added that Iraq has maintained its position as the seventh-best team in Asia, behind Japan national football team, Iran national football team, South Korea national football team, Australia national soccer team, Qatar national football team, and Uzbekistan national football team.

Iraq recently secured qualification for the FIFA World Cup after defeating Bolivia national football team 2–1 in the intercontinental playoff final on Wednesday. The victory marks Iraq’s second-ever appearance at the tournament, ending a 40-year absence since its first participation in 1986 FIFA World Cup.

The team will compete in the upcoming World Cup, scheduled to take place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, where Iraq has been drawn into Group I alongside France national football team, Senegal national football team, and Norway national football team.
