British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Sunday affirmed that the United Kingdom played no role in U.S. and Israeli strikes against Iran, emphasizing that Britain’s role is limited to specific defensive operations.
Starmer told reporters, as followed by INA, that Britain’s Gulf partners had requested additional efforts from London to bolster their defense. He added that it is his duty to protect British lives and national interests in the region.
He noted that British aircraft are currently participating in coordinated defensive operations and have successfully intercepted Iranian strikes. Washington reportedly sought permission to use British bases for these limited defensive purposes.
Starmer confirmed that his government agreed to the U.S. request to utilize British bases to prevent Iranian missile launches across the region, stressing that the decision is strictly defensive and intended to preserve regional stability.
