Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi affirmed on Thursday that Iraq has always been and remains a hub for dialogue and conflict resolution across the region.
The Prime Minister's Media Office stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi met with the head of the Iranian judiciary, Gholam Hossein Mohseni Eje'i, in Tehran."
The statement indicated that the meeting addressed ways to strengthen relations between the two countries and enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields, particularly the judicial sector, emphasizing the role of the judiciary in supporting and consolidating stability.
"During the meeting, the Prime Minister affirmed Iraq's commitment to building the best possible relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran and the government's readiness for joint cooperation in various fields and sectors, especially the economic sector, in a way that serves the interests of both countries and the prosperity of their peoples," according to the statement.
He emphasized that Iraq has always been and remains a hub for dialogue and conflict resolution across the region, stressing the importance of seizing the current opportunity and pushing for de-escalation through dialogue.
For his part, Eje'i pointed to the religious, historical, and social commonalities between Iraq and Iran, praising "the Iraqi government's steps and measures in combating corruption."
"Iran has experience in combating corruption and is ready to cooperate in this field," he stated while expressing his gratitude and appreciation "to the Iraqi people and their noble stance in the funeral procession of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei."
