Al-Waeli: Operations Resume at Shalamcheh Border Crossing After Temporary Halt Due to Shelling on the Iranian Side

The head of the Border Ports Authority, Omar al-Waeli, announced today, Thursday, the resumption of operations at the Shalamcheh border crossing after a temporary halt due to shelling on the Iranian side.

Al-Waeli told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Operations at the Shalamcheh border crossing in Basra Governorate were suspended for approximately three hours, from 2:00 to 5:00 AM, at the request of the Iranian side."

He added, "This was done to reorganize and restore order after the crossing was shelled from the Iranian side," emphasizing that "operations have been running smoothly since 5:00 AM, with the continued arrival of pilgrims for the Arba'een of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him)."
