US President Donald Trump met with his Lebanese counterpart, Joseph Aoun, at the White House on Tuesday.
During a joint press conference with the Lebanese president, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Trump said, “Relations with Lebanon are good, and President Joseph Aoun is highly respected.” He added, “The meetings were productive, and we will work to resolve many issues related to Lebanon.”
He continued, “We will solve many of the problems in Lebanon, and some have already been resolved.”
For his part, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun affirmed that “the ultimate goal is to permanently end the state of hostility between Lebanon and Israel,” stressing that “the time has come for Lebanon and the entire region to enjoy security and stability.”
He indicated that “Lebanon’s return to stability and security is now only a matter of time.”
