Prime Minister and the Emir of Qatar Emphasize the Importance of Diplomacy in Addressing Crises

Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi met with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on Sunday to discuss bilateral relations and ways to enhance cooperation in various fields. Both sides emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving crises.

The Prime Minister's Media Office stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi held official talks with His Highness the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in the Qatari capital, Doha."

During the meeting, the Prime Minister reiterated his condolences to Sheikh Tamim on the passing of the late Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, expressing his gratitude to the Emir for the warm welcome and generous hospitality.

He also affirmed Iraq's commitment to strengthening fraternal relations and cooperation with the sisterly State of Qatar and elevating them to serve the common interests of both countries and their brotherly peoples.

"The talks included a review of bilateral relations and ways to enhance joint cooperation in various fields to achieve mutual interests, in addition to discussing the most prominent regional and international issues of common interest, foremost among them the developments in the region," according to the statement.

Both sides also stressed the importance of adopting dialogue and diplomacy in addressing crises and the necessity of implementing what was agreed upon within the framework of the memorandum of understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran in a way that contributes to consolidating regional security and stability, ensures freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and serves the security and stability of the region.
