The Rusafa Investigation Court announced the arrest of two accused who confessed during the investigation to belonging to the so-called Ahmadi Movement of Peace and Light, also known as the Al-Yamani Movement.
The Supreme Judicial Council-SJC stated in a statement, received by The Iraqi News Agency-INA that “The competent judge stated that the arrests of the accused resulted from diligent efforts and close monitoring by the court, in coordination with the relevant security authorities, Explaining that the court ratified the accused's judicial confessions about their membership in the aforementioned movement and their knowledge of the disappearance of a young woman with the intention of marrying her off outside Iraq and bringing her into the group”.
The statement added ,"He added that the accused were using their Telegram channel to promote marriages for movement members and encourage young people to emigrate. He confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and efforts are continuing to execute the arrest warrants issued against the remaining wanted individuals, in preparation for taking the necessary legal procedures and referring them to the judiciary to receive their just punishment".
