Iran's Supreme Leader, Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei, on Saturday sent a message of thanks to the Iraqi people, expressing his appreciation for what he described as the "great epic" they demonstrated during the funeral procession of the martyr Sayyed Ali Khamenei, and praising the scale of public participation and its significance.
In a message followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Sayyed Khamenei said the Iraqi people, with their cultural and religious heritage and their connection to the holy shrines, had created the remarkable scene in receiving and accompanying the funeral procession of the martyr leader, saying the turnout reflected the depth of support for the resistance.
He added that the million-strong funeral procession embodied solidarity, brotherhood, and unity of purpose between the Iraqi and Iranian peoples, asserting that the participation had thwarted attempts to undermine relations between the two countries and had contributed to strengthening regional awareness and reshaping the balance in the region.
Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei also noted that Iraq will soon receive pilgrims marking the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein (PBUH), expressing hope that the occasion would reinforce the slogan, "Love for Hussein Unites Us," and bring security, blessings, and progress to the Iraqi people.
