Al-Atroushi Commemorates First Session of Iraqi Parliament and Emphasizes Strengthening National Partnership

Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Farhad Amin Al-Atroushi, commemorated on Thursday the convening of the first session of the Iraqi Parliament on July 16, 1925, emphasizing that this occasion represents an impetus for strengthening national partnership and building a unified, secure, and prosperous Iraq.

A statement issued by the Deputy Speaker's media office, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), indicated that "Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Farhad Amin Al-Atroushi, expressed his pride and honor in commemorating the convening of the first session of the Iraqi Parliament on July 16, 1925, which was held within the framework of the National Assembly, laying the foundation for representing the people and the national will and establishing the Iraqi Constitution at that time."

The statement added that "the Parliament at that time consisted of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, together forming the first elected parliamentary system in the history of Iraq."

The Deputy Speaker noted that "this day reflects the depth of Iraq's political experience," emphasizing that "the Kurds have had a clear and influential presence in it."

He added that "commemorating this occasion serves as an incentive to strengthen national partnership and uphold democracy and the rule of law in order to build a unified, secure, and prosperous Iraq."
