The Border Crossings Authority announced on Tuesday the commencement of its special operational plan for the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the authority said that its head, Lieutenant General Omar Adnan Al-Waeli, accompanied by Lieutenant General Qais Al-Mohammadawi, Deputy Commander of the Joint Operations Command and Chairman of the Higher Committee for Mass Pilgrimages, and Deputy Director of the Prime Minister’s Office Ali Razouqi Al-Lami, Chairman of the Service Committee, visited Diyala Province to review the latest preparations for receiving pilgrims commemorating Imam Hussein’s Arbaeen through the Al-Mundhiriyah Border Crossing and to oversee the organizational and coordination plan to be implemented during the pilgrimage season.
The statement added that the visit included a conference at Diyala Operations Command, during which the Chairman of the Higher Committee for Mass Pilgrimages stressed the importance of clearly defining responsibilities and strengthening cooperation and coordination between the security and service sectors, while mobilizing all available capabilities and resources to ensure the success of the mass religious occasion, facilitate the smooth movement of pilgrims, and provide them with the best possible services.
Al-Waeli explained that the delegation then proceeded to the Al-Mundhiriyah Border Crossing, where a joint meeting was held with the Iranian side to discuss organizational procedures for the pilgrimage, mechanisms to facilitate border crossings, support for Husseini processions, preparations for essential services, and the provision of all necessary assistance in recognition of their important role in serving pilgrims during the Arbaeen commemorations.
He affirmed that the Border Crossings Authority continues implementing its Arbaeen pilgrimage plan in coordination with security, service, and supporting agencies, in line with government directives, to ensure smooth procedures and receive pilgrims with the highest standards of organization and efficiency.
