The member of the Sadiqoun parliamentary bloc Adel Al-Rikabi, revealed on Sunday the most prominent documents through which he interrogated, in absentia, the head of the National Investment Commission in the Council of Representatives, while confirming that numerous files in the Investment Commission have been identified as tainted by corruption.

Al-Rikabi said to the program “Al-Mashhad”, which is broadcast on Al-Iraqiya News and followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “during the past five months, documents and records constituting violations in the investment file in Iraq have been collected,” indicating that “numerous files in the Investment Commission have been identified as tainted by corruption.”

He added that “there is harm to the state and the citizen in some investment projects,” affirming that “there are disagreements regarding the granting of a license for the Rixos project in the heart of the Green Zone.”

He explained that “the problem lies in handing over state financial assets through investments without benefit,” pointing out that “investment licenses were granted despite not being completed in accordance with proper legal procedures.”

He pointed out that “the investing companies sell the real estate meter for millions, while they lease it from the commission for several thousand,” noting that “the head of the commission should not have yielded to pressure and should not have passed the violations.”

He noted that “the head of the commission requested that the Council of Ministers extend the implementation period of the Sustainable Baghdad Forests project from 10 years to 15 years, and what is strange is that the investment of Al-Rasheed Camp, according to the contract, will be implemented after 15 years,” explaining that “Imkanat Company is a cover for Yazan Mishaan, according to information from the Investment Commission, but the information that reached us indicates that it belongs to other persons.”

Regarding the land of the Police Martyrs Fund, Al-Rikabi explained that “land belonging to the Police Martyrs Fund was registered as freehold ownership in the name of Ataa Al-Maali General Contracting Company without granting it an investment license,” noting that “there is a lawsuit filed by the Ministry of Interior to invalidate the title deed of the Police Martyrs Fund land.”

He continued that “land was granted to Ataa Al-Maali Company despite it not having obtained an investment license, and the Investment Commission and the Real Estate Registration Directorate are implicated in that,” noting that “the file of granting the Police Martyrs Fund land to Ataa Al-Maali Company is before the judiciary.”

Regarding the Basmaya project, he affirmed that “the South Korean Hanwha Company completed 30% of the Basmaya residential complex project with Iraqi funds,” indicating that “the Investment Commission granted the South Korean Hanwha company funds outside the regulations.”
