The Iraqi National Olympic Committee announced on Saturday that Khalil Yassin, President of the Iraqi Hockey Federation, has won a seat on the Executive Committee of the Arab Hockey Federation.
"Yassin won a seat on the Executive Committee of the Arab Hockey Federation in elections held on Saturday in Muscat, the capital of Oman, on the sidelines of the Federation's General Assembly meeting," said the Committee in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
The statement quoted Yassin as saying, "The elections were conducted under the supervision and monitoring of the President of the International Hockey Federation, Tayeb Ikram," adding that "the results led to Marwan Jumaa from the Sultanate of Oman winning the presidency of the Arab Hockey Federation."
Yassin added that "his election to the Executive Committee represents a new achievement for Iraqi sports and strengthens Iraq's presence in Arab sports forums," emphasizing that "the next phase will focus on supporting and developing hockey and enhancing cooperation with Arab federations in a way that contributes to raising the level of the game and serving Iraqi and Arab sports."
