Qatar emir, Pakistan PM discuss efforts to reduce regional tensions

Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif discussed current developments in the region, particularly U.S.-Iran talks, and stressed the need to continue efforts aimed at reducing tensions and resolving disputes through peaceful means.

The discussions took place during a phone call received by Sheikh Tamim from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The call reviewed bilateral cooperation between Qatar and Pakistan and explored prospects for strengthening ties, alongside discussions on the latest regional and international developments and efforts to support security and peace in the region.

Sharif affirmed Pakistan’s full support and solidarity with Qatar amid the current regional developments, emphasizing the importance of restraint, dialogue and diplomacy in preserving the gains of peace achieved in recent years.

The Pakistani prime minister also praised Qatar’s role and its continued efforts in supporting peace initiatives, expressing his country’s aspiration to continue coordination and joint action to enhance peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
