Babil Directorate of Narcotics Affairs announced on Friday the arrest of two foreign nationals and the seizure of more than 2 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine in two separate operations.
In a statement received by The Iraqi News Agency-INA, the directorate said the operations were carried out with precision and professionalism, based on high-level intelligence efforts. Authorities seized 2.2 kilograms of crystal meth from the suspects.
The statement added that the arrests followed intelligence monitoring and surveillance of the suspects’ movements, leading to their apprehension.
Legal procedures have been taken against the suspects, and they have been referred to the judiciary, the directorate said.
The General Directorate for Narcotics Affairs affirmed that it would continue proactive operations to pursue drug traffickers, dismantle their networks, disrupt supply chains, and curb the flow of narcotics.
