The Border Ports Commission-BPC announced on Friday that it has begun completing the procedures necessary for the transit of trucks carrying food aid from the United Arab Emirates to Lebanon through Iraqi territory under the transit system.
The Commission’s spokesperson, Alaa Al-Din Al-Qaisi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that, in implementation of directives issued by Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi and under the supervision of the head of the Border Ports Commission, Lieutenant General Omar Al-Waeli, the administration of Northern Umm Qasr Port has begun completing all required legal procedures for the passage of trucks loaded with food supplies as humanitarian aid from the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Lebanon.
He added that the trucks are transiting through Iraqi territory in accordance with the transit system until they reach Lebanese territory
