Interior Ministry Solves Murder of Retired Teacher, Arrests Female Suspect in Wasit

The Ministry of Interior announced on Wednesday the arrest of a woman accused of killing a retired educator in Wasit Governorate.

In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the ministry said that within 24 hours of the incident, and under the supervision of Wasit Police Commander Major General Ahmed Abdul Zahra Al-Aboudi, investigators from the North Wasit Crime Control Department were able to uncover the circumstances surrounding the murder of a retired teacher in Suwayrah District and arrest the suspect.

The ministry added that, following the completion of investigative procedures, the suspect confessed to committing the crime with the intent of theft. She allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times with a knife, and a sum of money was seized in her possession.

Legal measures have been taken against the suspect, the ministry said, including conducting a crime scene reconstruction and detaining her in accordance with Article 406 of the Iraqi Penal Code.
