SJC Announces Seizure of Total Funds in Al-Jumaili Case Rises to 127 Billion Dinars and 24 Million Dollars

The Supreme Judicial Council SJC announced today, Monday, the seizure of a new sum of 25 billion Iraqi dinars in the case of the Ministry of Oil's Undersecretary for Refining Affairs.

The Judicial Council stated, in a communiqué received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the investigating judge of the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court clarified that a new operation resulted in the seizure of 25 billion Iraqi dinars, in addition to the seizure of 1 million dollars, alongside gold jewelry estimated at approximately 5 kilograms, in the case of the detained defendant, Adnan Al-Jumaili, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Refining Affairs, and the parties involved with him."

The specialized judge added that "as a result of precise tracking to seize the financial proceeds resulting from the waste occurring in projects executed by the defendant and the parties to the case, operations resulted in the seizure of these funds, which were placed inside plastic water bottles and hidden inside the defendant's house in the city of Tikrit."

He pointed out that "the total financial amounts seized have risen to reach 127 billion dinars and 24 million dollars, in addition to the real estate and vehicles that have been impounded, and the seized gold ornaments," stressing that "investigations and the pursuit of other involved individuals are ongoing until all legal procedures are completed."
