National Security Advisor Qasim al-Aboudi affirmed to the Indian Ambassador to Baghdad, Somin Bagshi, on Sunday that the government has taken practical measures to combat corruption and ensure that weapons are solely in the hands of the state.
The National Security Advisor's media office stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "National Security Advisor Qasim al-Aboudi received the Indian Ambassador to Baghdad, Somin Bagshi."
"The meeting addressed ways to develop friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries in a manner that serves the common interests of both nations and their peoples," the statement added.
During the meeting, al-Aboudi pointed out that conflicts and wars have affected the countries of the region in particular and the world in general, impacting their economic and development programs.
"The government of Ali Faleh al-Zaidi has taken important and practical steps to combat corruption and restrict weapons to the state, thus strengthening the country's security and stability and creating an attractive environment for investment," emphasizing that "economic security is part of a country's national security," al-Aboudi stressed.
For his part, the Indian ambassador congratulated al-Aboudi on assuming his post, expressing his government's keenness to establish economic and security relations with Iraq in a way that serves the common interests of both countries.
