Iraqi Judiciary Receives Spanish Royal Order of Merit

The Supreme Judicial Council announced on Saturday that it had received the Spanish Royal Order of Merit with White Class of Honor.

In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Council said that "Judge Ali Hussein Jafat, Head of the National Center for International Judicial Cooperation, received the Spanish Royal Order of Merit with White Class of Honor during a ceremony held in the Spanish capital, Madrid, last Wednesday."

The statement added that "this honor comes in recognition of the efforts undertaken by the Iraqi judiciary in the field of combating terrorism, and the role that international judicial cooperation has played in thwarting terrorist plots targeting the Kingdom of Spain."

It continued that "the medal was awarded to the Head of the National Center for International Judicial Cooperation on behalf of the Supreme Judicial Council, based on the Spanish Royal Decree dated June 18, 1943, and the law in force on April 29, 1964."
