Baghdad and several other provinces witnessed the launch of solidarity rallies called on Friday, for by the leader of the Shiite National Movement, expressing their support for the government campaign led by Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi to combat financial and administrative corruption in state institutions.
These popular movements came in response to a call made by the leader of the Shiite national movement, Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr, who announced in an official statement his support for the recent government measures, describing them as a heroic step that restores hope to the Iraqi people in recovering their rights and looted funds.
