Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein emphasized on Thursday the importance of enhancing diplomatic performance and improving services for the Iraqi community in Portugal.
A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said that “Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with the staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in the Portuguese capital, Lisbon, as part of his official visit to Portugal.”
The statement added that “during the meeting, the Minister received a briefing from the embassy staff on the progress of diplomatic and consular work, ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Iraq and Portugal, as well as the services provided to members of the Iraqi community residing in Portugal.”
The Minister stressed “the importance of enhancing diplomatic and consular performance in line with the directives of the Iraqi government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” emphasizing “the need to continue working as one team and to strengthen communication with Portuguese official institutions in order to further develop bilateral relations and expand avenues of cooperation across various fields.”
He also praised “the efforts of the ambassador and the embassy staff in representing Iraq and safeguarding the interests of Iraqi citizens,” reaffirming “the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ commitment to providing the necessary support to Iraqi diplomatic missions to enable them to carry out their duties efficiently and effectively.”
