Finance Minister: Government Committed to Attracting Reputable Foreign Companies

Finance Minister Faleh al-Sari affirmed on Thursday the government’s commitment to providing an attractive environment for reputable foreign companies.

The Ministry of Finance said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that “Finance Minister Faleh al-Sari received the Turkish Ambassador to Iraq, Anil Bora Inan, along with representatives of several Turkish companies and business leaders within the framework of the Iraqi-Turkish Business Council.”

“The meeting discussed mechanisms for expanding investment cooperation and facilitating the entry of Turkish companies into the Iraqi market, in addition to exploring ways to strengthen banking and financial cooperation between the two countries,” the statement added.

According to the statement, the minister emphasized the Iraqi government’s commitment to providing a safe and attractive investment environment and offering the necessary facilities to overcome obstacles facing reputable foreign companies, thereby helping attract more investment and support economic development.

“The government is giving special attention to sustainable development projects in the energy, construction, and health sectors, considering them key pillars of its reconstruction and development plans,” he stated.

“The importance of modernizing the banking sector and developing its services to facilitate investment flows and enhance trade exchange,” he stressed.

For their part, representatives of Turkish companies and business leaders expressed their interest in expanding their investments in Iraq, affirming their commitment to strengthening economic cooperation and contributing to the implementation of development projects in a manner that serves the interests of the two neighboring countries.
