Prime Minister Al-Zaidi Chairs Meeting of the Service Committee for the Multimillion-Pilgrims events

Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi chaired today, Tuesday, an expanded meeting of the Service Committee for the Multimillion-Pilgrims events.

The Media Office of the Prime Minister said in a statement, received by The Iraqi News Agency-INA,"The meeting reviewed the service preparations for the commemoration of the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein and his companions (peace be upon them), which annually draws millions of pilgrims from across Iraq and abroad to the holy governorate of Karbala".

The statement added,"Prime Minister Al-Zaidi stressed the importance of ensuring that this year’s Arbaeen pilgrimage surpasses previous years in the quality of services provided and the smooth flow of pilgrims. He emphasized the importance of assessing the situation on the ground and identifying the necessary requirements, while demonstrating the state's authority in a manner that reflects the government’s success and strengthens public confidence in its performance".

The Prime Minister directed the development of a comprehensive plan for organizing the Arbaeen pilgrimage, particularly with regard to transportation and the return movement of pilgrims, by securing an adequate number of vehicles in coordination with all ministries, government bodies, and local governments across the governorates. He also directed the provision of all essential services for the Husseini processions, including electricity, fuel, medical services, telecommunications, and the organization of media coverage.

The Prime Minister also instructed the border crossings to facilitate and regulate the entry of Arab and foreign pilgrims into Iraq in a manner that highlights the government’s efforts and reinforces the positive image of the country.
