SJC: Corruption probe into deputy oil minister uncovers $11 million, 4 billion dinars

The Supreme Judicial Council-SJC said on Monday that an investigation into the detained Deputy Oil Minister for Distribution Affairs, Ali Maarej Suwaij al-Bahadli, had led to the seizure of $11 million in cash, 4 billion Iraqi dinars ($3.1 million), and a number of real estate assets.

SJC said in a statement that preliminary investigations conducted by the investigating judge at the Central Criminal Court for Combating Corruption uncovered the funds and properties during the probe into al-Bahadli, who is currently in detention.

The judge overseeing the case said the investigation was still ongoing, according to the statement.
