The Security Media Cell announced today, Friday, the implementation of strict measures to secure the Tuwairij Run and organize reverse transit in the Holy Karbala Governorate.
The head of the Security Media Cell, Lieutenant General Saad Maan, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "security forces have commenced a widespread deployment to secure the millions of crowds heading to Holy Karbala to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him), including the rituals of the Tuwairij Run, which commences after the noon prayer."
He added that "the security plan is being implemented under the field supervision and follow-up of senior commanders in the Joint Operations Command, with the presence of the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Qais Al-Muhammadawi," noting that "security forces are deployed across major movement axes, gathering areas, and city entry and exit points to ensure the fluidity of the pilgrimage."
He further stated that "the plan also includes securing highways and pilgrim corridors through additional reinforcements from various security branches, with the support of auxiliary ministries and service agencies, which contributes to providing logistical support and organizing crowd movement." He pointed out that "security authorities have established special procedures to manage the transport and transit file, including organizing boarding and reverse transit operations after the rituals conclude, in addition to plans to address traffic congestion and handle any potential emergencies during the peak of the pilgrimage."
He explained that "the plan also relies on intensive intelligence and security efforts to monitor any indicators that might affect the security and safety of the pilgrims," confirming that "no noteworthy problems have been recorded thus far during the proceedings of the pilgrimage."
Lieutenant General Maan called upon citizens to "adhere to security instructions and cooperate with the deployed forces to ensure the success of the plan and achieve a high degree of fluidity in the movement of pilgrims, especially during the commencement of the Tuwairij Run rituals," emphasizing "the importance of ensuring the pilgrimage remains exemplary and civilized, befitting the significance of the occasion."
