Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi arrived today, Thursday, in Holy Karbala to oversee the implementation of security and service plans for the Ashura commemoration, in the presence of senior officials and military and security commanders.
The Media Office of the Prime Minister said in a statement, received by The Iraqi News Agency-INA that “The Prime Minister chaired a meeting during which he was briefed on the security and service plan for the commemoration. He affirmed that the pilgrimage to Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) has transcended its local roots to become a global event, as Hussein (peace be upon him) belongs to all humanity, and his revolution embodied the principles of truth, justice, and resistance to corruption and oppression”.
“The Prime Minister stressed the importance of presenting a positive image to the millions of pilgrims arriving from around the world, from the moment of their arrival until their departure, through the provision of the highest standards of service and care,” the statement added.
The statement continued ,"Prime Minister Al-Zaidi directed that processions be organized in observance of service and security requirements and the smooth flow of movement, particularly during the Ashura run on the 10th of Muharram".
The Prime Minister also directed the provision of adequate transportation to ensure the timely and smooth departure of pilgrims following the conclusion of the commemoration, emphasizing the importance of coordination between relevant authorities and volunteers, who will play a key role throughout the event.
The statement further stated that “During the visit, the Prime Minister conducted a field tour among processions and met with pilgrims, expressing his appreciation for the efforts of procession organizers in serving the millions of pilgrims”.
