Duhok to Host First Gulf Super Cup for Clubs

The Arabian Gulf Cup Football Federation announced the launch of the 2026 Gulf Super Cup for Clubs, which will pit Iraq's Duhok Club, champions of the inaugural Gulf Champions League, against Qatar's Al Rayyan Club, champions of the second edition of the league.

A statement issued by the Arabian Gulf Cup Federation and received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) on Thursday stated that "Duhok Governorate will host this match on August 13th, in a football event that represents a new addition to the history of Gulf championships."

The statement added that "this newly established Super Cup represents an important milestone in developing regional competitions and enhancing their presence on the Gulf football scene, in addition to the widespread public and media attention it is expected to garner in the region."

The statement continued, β€œThe Secretary-General of the Federation, Jassim Sultan Al-Rumaihi, praised the efforts made by Duhok Club to complete all the organizational arrangements for hosting the match and the great care taken to ensure the match was presented in a manner befitting the reputation of Gulf football. He also praised the support provided by the Iraqi Football Association for hosting the event.”
