US Secretary of State Marco Rubio affirmed on Thursday that the United States will share steps with the Gulf states on implementing the memorandum of understanding with Iran.
Speaking at a press conference during his visit to the Bahraini capital, Manama, Rubio said, "I came to the region to reassure our partners that we will not agree to any action that undermines their security or poses a threat to them," clarifying that "we did not discuss the establishment of an Iran reconstruction fund with the Gulf states."
He added, "Ultimately, there will be no transit fees through the Strait of Hormuz," noting that "the Omanis have said they do not support imposing any transit fees through the Strait of Hormuz."
