Secretary of State Marco Rubio stressed that Washington would remain “fully aligned” with its Gulf allies as it proceeds with negotiations with Iran aimed at reaching a lasting settlement to the conflict in the Middle East.
During his Gulf tour, Rubio said in Kuwait that the United States would involve its Gulf allies “in discussions regarding every decision taken concerning these negotiations.”
Prior to his arrival in Kuwait, Rubio reaffirmed during a meeting with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan the United States’ commitment to ensuring the security of the United Arab Emirates.
Following his visit to Kuwait, Rubio is scheduled to travel to Bahrain, where he will participate in a meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on Thursday.
