ICAA Grants Operating License to Najaf Airport

The Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority announced on Wednesday that it has granted an operating license to Najaf International Airport.

In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Authority said, "The head of the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority has granted the operating license to Najaf International Airport."

The statement added that "the license was granted after the airport fulfilled the approved technical and regulatory requirements according to the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which enhances safety and operational efficiency and supports air traffic and passenger services to and from Najaf Governorate."

According to the statement, the head of the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority, Benkin Rikani, said that "the Authority conducted numerous audits of all Iraqi airports and identified several observations regarding the airports, in accordance with the international standards adopted by ICAO for the purpose of airport licensing."

He added that "the local government in Najaf Governorate and the Najaf Airport administration made diligent efforts with the authorities to overcome all the points indicated by the authorities and completed the licensing requirements," explaining that "granting the license to Najaf Airport is a great achievement for the governorate."
