Prime Minister Reviews Security and Service Plan for Ashura Commemorations

Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi chaired today, Tuesday, a meeting of the Higher Committee for Multimillion-Pilgrims Events, held at the Joint Operations Command.

The Spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Sabah Al-Numan stated in a statement received by The Iraqi News Agency-INA that,"The Prime Minister was briefed on a detailed overview of the plan for the Ashura commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) across all pilgrim routes. He affirmed a number of key directives, foremost among them ensuring all requirements are met for the success of this commemoration, which draws millions of pilgrims from inside and outside the country, relying on intelligence efforts, and avoiding the appearance of militarization in cities and roads near the Holy Shrine".

The Commander-in-Chief stressed the importance of securing pilgrim transportation, reverse crowd management, and other services, and called for the full mobilization of all ministries and government agencies.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces also directed the preparation of a comprehensive security and service plan for the Arbaeen commemoration of the Master of Martyrs (peace be upon him) immediately upon the conclusion of the 10th of Muharram. He further stressed the necessity of unifying the media messaging in a manner that highlights the greatness of this occasion and the principles of its eternal figure, while avoiding sectarian slogans and rhetoric, and affirming the universal human values embodied by Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), whose revolution was not confined to any religion or sect.
