A source close to the Iranian negotiating team revealed on Sunday that the delegation left the negotiations venue in protest against threats made by US President Donald Trump.
The Iranian news agency Tasnim quoted the source as saying, "The delegation left the negotiations venue in Burgenstock in protest against Trump's threats."
US President Donald Trump made a series of harsh statements regarding Iran on Sunday, threatening that closing the Strait of Hormuz would prevent Iranian negotiators from returning to their country.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump said that the focus should be on reaching an agreement with Iran, while also noting that Hamas is not currently causing many problems in Gaza.
He stated that if an agreement is not reached with Iran, the United States might impose fees on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, with the possibility of seizing control of it if necessary.
Trump added that Washington could become the guardian of the strait and take a percentage of the oil revenues, warning that closing it by Iran could lead to the destruction of the country.
