Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali Falih Al-Zaidi, issued five directives concerning the operations of border crossings and customs.
These directives were issued in light of the conference held on 15 June 2026 in the presence of the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, during which the Commander-in-Chief directed the implementation of the following measures:
1-Reassign all personnel working at the border crossings, without exception, within (48) hours. The Border Crossings Commission shall submit a report confirming the implementation of this directive.
2-The Ministry of Interior – Border Guards Command shall close all border gaps and unofficial land and maritime crossing routes, and reassign all brigade and unit commanders within the Border Guards Command.
3-All officers, personnel, and employees assigned to work at the Border Crossings Commission shall be returned to the Ministry of Interior; their disengagement from current duties shall be completed within forty-eight (48) hours, without exception.
4-All security and intelligence agencies, namely the Intelligence Service Office, FIIA Office, the Customs Police Station, the Explosives Detachment, the Narcotics Sections, and the K9 detachments, shall be required to carry out their duties by activating their security and intelligence role within the border crossing and ensuring that no prohibited materials or narcotic substances pass through any of the border crossings. They shall submit periodic reports directly to the Director of the Border Crossing in his capacity as Head of the Intelligence Cell. These agencies shall bear legal responsibility in the event of any security breach or unlawful crossing.
5. Employees of the General Customs Authority shall be required to conduct thorough inspections of all goods entering the country, without exception, and no truck shall be permitted to pass unless an inspection has been carried out and the details of its cargo have been verified.
