The Minister of Oil, Basim Mohammed Khudair Al-Abadi, affirmed the readiness of oil fields to resume extraction operations, noting that Iraqi exports will gradually return to their previous levels.
Al-Abadi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that “the oil fields are ready to resume extraction operations,” indicating that “the return to normal conditions will take place progressively until previous production levels are reached.”
He added, “The Oil Marketing Company (SOMO) has contacted all customers to nominate chartered and owned tankers to load contracted quantities of Iraqi crude oil through the southern Iraqi ports. Accordingly, the resumption of exports will be gradual, based on the smooth flow of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.”
