Baghdad and Erbil Discuss Unifying Inspection and Quality Control Procedures through ASYCUDA System

The Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control- COSQC discussed with the Kurdistan Region's Standardization and Quality Control on Thursday ways to strengthen regulatory integration and unify inspection and quality control procedures through the ASYCUDA system used at border crossings.

COSQC said in a statement that the talks focused on enhancing coordination and standardizing inspection and quality control procedures through the ASYCUDA system implemented at border ports, in a move aimed at facilitating workflow and improving information exchange between the two sides.

The discussions took place during a joint meeting held at the headquarters of the Central Organization in Baghdad. The meeting was attended by Mohammed Latif Ahmed, Director General of the Standardization Department, and Mushtaq Moeen Mohammed, Director General of the Quality Control Department. The Kurdistan Region's delegation was headed by Ayoob Saber Hassan, Chairman of the Standardization and Quality Control.

The statement said the two sides agreed to recognize each other's inspection results in accordance with existing government decisions and to establish a joint mechanism for entering inspection data into the ASYCUDA system, with the aim of strengthening oversight of goods and commodities and ensuring compliance with approved standards.

Participants stressed the importance of continued coordination between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government to unify technical and regulatory procedures, support trade flows and enhance consumer protection at all border crossings.
