Suyana Bloc Discusses Diversity Management in Iraq with U.S. Chargé d’Affaires

The Christian parliamentary Suyana Bloc discussed diversity management in Iraq with U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Joshua Harris.

The bloc said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that “a delegation from the Suyana Bloc met with U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires in Baghdad, Joshua Harris, to discuss a number of political and national issues related to the rights of Iraq’s communities and the future of the political process in the country.”

The statement said the delegation included bloc head Kaldo Ramzi Oghanna, along with MPs Imad Youkhana Yaqo and Sami Oushana.

It added that the meeting addressed the situation of the Christian community and its constitutional and political rights, as well as the issue of diversity management in Iraq. The two sides stressed the importance of respecting the Christian community’s electoral entitlement and ensuring its fair representation in state institutions in line with election results and the will of voters.

The statement said the discussions also covered efforts to complete the formation of the new government headed by Ali Falih Al-Zaidi, and the importance of supporting its reform program and efforts to strengthen security and achieve economic development, contributing to political stability and serving all Iraqis.

It added that both sides emphasized the importance of developing Iraqi-U.S. relations and supporting the values of pluralism and coexistence in a manner that strengthens the presence of Iraq’s indigenous communities and preserves their rights and national role.
