Fayhan Meets Delegation of Baghdad Service and Social Bloc MPs to Discuss Service-Related Issues

First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Adnan Fayhan discussed with a delegation from the Baghdad Parliamentary Service and Social Bloc ways to strengthen the parliamentary role in monitoring and following up on service-related issues.

The media office of the Deputy Speaker said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that, “First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Adnan Fayhan received on Tuesday evening, at his guesthouse, a delegation from the Baghdad Service and Social Bloc MPs to discuss the most prominent service-related issues and essential needs affecting residents of the capital, as well as ways to strengthen the parliamentary role in following up on service files and responding to the needs of Baghdad's residents.”

According to the statement, Fayhan praised the formation of the bloc, which includes a number of members of parliament representing Baghdad, stressing the importance of the initiative in unifying parliamentary efforts and positions to serve the residents of the capital and address their needs.

He pointed to Baghdad's historical and civilizational stature as Iraq's capital and its political and administrative center, stressing that this requires closer integration between legislative and executive efforts to improve the city's service and urban infrastructure and provide an environment befitting its status and residents.

The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament also instructed the parliamentary Security and Defense Committee to follow up on the issue of the Karkh Police Command, review the concerns raised regarding its performance, and submit recommendations on the dismissal of its commander in accordance with established legal procedures, in a manner that serves the public interest and strengthens public confidence in security institutions.
