Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi expressed Iraq's welcome of the ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States and its support for efforts to consolidate security and stability.
The Prime Minister's Media Office stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi received the Iranian Ambassador to Iraq, Mohammad Kazem Al-Sadegh, who conveyed to the Prime Minister the greetings of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and affirmed his country's desire to develop relations and support mutual coordination on issues of common interest."
"The meeting reviewed the overall prospects for cooperation and partnership between the two countries and ways to strengthen them at various levels and in different fields, in a manner that positively impacts bilateral interests," the statement added.
"The latest developments in the region were also discussed, with the Prime Minister expressing Iraq's welcome of the ceasefire agreement and its support for efforts to consolidate security and stability and prevent the continuation of the conflict and the threat to regional and international peace," the statement continued.
