Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced yesterday evening that a peace agreement had been reached between the United States and Iran following intensive negotiations, saying both sides had agreed to an immediate and permanent halt to military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon. Sharif said mediators would begin facilitating a series of meetings later this week as the agreement takes effect. The formal signing ceremony is scheduled to take place in Switzerland on 19 June.
