The leader of The Shiite Movement Sayyid Muqtada Al-Sadr on Sunday called on Iraqis to support the national football team during its participation at World Cup 2026.
In a post followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Al-Sadr said that those who love their country should support the national team in its World Cup journey through appropriate and respectful means.
He expressed hope that the team’s successes would help restore smiles to the faces of Iraqis after enduring years of hardship and suffering.
“Your support for your national team is, in itself, a victory for the team,” Al-Sadr said.
