Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi inaugurated the Speicher massacre panorama on Friday, created by renowned Iraqi artist Hanoush Hanoush. He noted that the forces of darkness, through this crime, sought to destroy the very idea of the state.

The Prime Minister’s Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that “Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi inaugurated today the Speicher massacre panorama, created by the internationally acclaimed Iraqi artist Hanoush Hanoush.”

According to the statement, al-Zaidi emphasized that “we recall a deep wound in the heart of the nation called Speicher. This crime, which represents a tragic event in the history of modern Iraq, revealed that terrorism does not enter through weapons alone, but also through the vulnerabilities of corruption, weak institutions, lack of vigilance, and negligence in the performance of duties.”

He explained that “the forces of darkness, by committing this crime, sought to kill the very idea of the state, shatter citizens’ trust in their homeland, and turn pain into strife and bloodshed into division,” stressing that “terrorism failed because the blood of the martyrs was greater than hatred and purer than the schemes of terrorists.”

Al-Zaidi stressed that “true loyalty to the martyrs is achieved through building a just and strong state that protects its citizens and safeguards their blood,” affirming that “Iraq, with the unity of its people, the sovereignty of its state, and the courage of its sons, will remain stronger than its wounds and greater than any conspiracies.”
