INA β Follow-up
Iran's Khatam Al-Anbiya Central Headquarters announced on Thursday the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to all maritime traffic, including oil tankers and commercial vessels.
In a statement monitored by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the headquarters said that, following the continued U.S. attacks on areas in the southern province of Hormozgan, and due to the deteriorating security situation in the region, the strategic waterway would be closed with immediate effect.
"From this moment, the Strait of Hormuz is closed to all types of vessels, including oil tankers and commercial ships," the statement said, adding that "any vessel attempting to transit the strait will be subject to targeting."
