Iraq's four presidencies on Wednesday reaffirmed the importance of supporting the government and stressed the need to expedite the completion of the cabinet, while reiterating Iraq's longstanding position calling for an immediate halt to the war and an end to all forms of escalation.

“President Nizar Amedi hosted a high-level leadership meeting at Baghdad Palace on Wednesday, bringing together Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi, Speaker of Parliament Haibat Al-Halbousi, and President of the Supreme Judicial Council Judge Faiq Zaidan for wide-ranging discussions on Iraq’s political, security, and economic landscape, as well as the latest developments across the region,” stated the Media Office of the presidency of the republic in a statement, received by The Iraqi News Agency-INA.

“The attendees stressed the need to complete the cabinet formation as soon as possible, describing the move as essential to improving government performance and strengthening the capacity of executive institutions to implement the ministerial program and deliver on its objectives”, the statement added.

The statement further stated,"They also reaffirmed their support for the government’s development agenda and ongoing efforts to improve living conditions, respond to citizens’ needs, and enhance essential public services across all provinces".

“The meeting highlighted the importance of advancing key legislation and updating investment laws in ways that strengthen government performance, modernize state institutions, and create a more supportive environment for development and reform,” the statement confirmed.

The leaders emphasized that legislative and institutional modernization remains essential to advancing the public interest and supporting Iraq’s long-term development goals.

The leaders renewed their commitment to the principle that all weapons must remain under the authority of the state, describing it as a cornerstone of the rule of law and a fundamental requirement for strengthening state institutions and national sovereignty.

They also welcomed the national positions and steps taken by groups and factions that moved to dissociate themselves from the Popular Mobilization Forces in line with the constitution, the law, and the broader requirements of state-building.

The participants stressed that security and military decisions must remain exclusively in the hands of the Iraqi state and its constitutional institutions under the command of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, emphasizing that such an approach is essential to safeguarding security and stability, preserving national unity, and protecting Iraq’s sovereignty and independent decision-making.

They further underscored the vital role of the judiciary in enforcing the law and holding accountable anyone who infringes on public funds, undermines state institutions, or threatens state security, in ways that protect the constitutional order, safeguard citizens’ rights, and reinforce justice and the rule of law.

On the economic front, the leaders stressed the importance of maintaining financial stability, strengthening the national economy, and diversifying sources of revenue beyond oil.

They emphasized the need to expand productive sectors, including industry, agriculture, and tourism, while encouraging both domestic and foreign investment and empowering the private sector to play a larger role in driving economic growth.

The meeting also reaffirmed support for the government’s ongoing economic reform agenda and its efforts to achieve sustainable development.

Addressing regional and international developments, the leaders reiterated Iraq’s firm position calling for an immediate end to the war and all forms of escalation and tension across the region, stressing that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path toward resolving disputes and preventing further instability.

They warned that continued conflict threatens the security and stability of the peoples of the region and carries serious consequences for the global economy, energy security, and international trade.

The meeting reaffirmed Iraq’s support for all efforts aimed at promoting peace, security, and stability, while reiterating its rejection of the use of Iraqi territory to launch attacks against any country in ways that threaten the security and stability of the region.

The leaders also stressed the importance of strengthening relations and mutual understanding with Iraq’s Arab and Islamic neighbors in ways that serve shared interests and contribute to regional stability.
