PM Al-Zaidi reviews preparations of Iraq’s National Team for the FIFA World Cup

Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi received on Wednesday the President of the Iraqi Football Association, Younis Mahmoud.

The meeting reviewed the preparations of Iraq’s national team for the FIFA World Cup and the requirements of the upcoming phase to ensure the best possible technical and administrative conditions for the team, according to a statement from the PM Media Office, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

The discussions also addressed the current state of Iraqi football and ways to support and develop it, as the Prime Minister affirmed the government’s commitment to supporting Iraqi sports and providing all necessary resources to ensure a successful participation in the World Cup.

“Iraq’s qualification for the FIFA World Cup represents an important national achievement that reflects the aspirations of the Iraqi people and requires the concerted efforts of all parties to deliver a performance worthy of Iraq’s name and standing,” he noted.

In turn, the President of the Iraqi Football Association reviewed the key preparations currently underway for the national team and its World Cup training program, as well as the Association’s plans to develop Iraqi football and nurture sporting talent.

Al-Zaidi also expressed his appreciation for the government’s support and its continued attention to the youth and sports sectors.
