National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji affirmed on Wednesday, the anniversary of the occupation of Mosul, that Iraqis confronted this brutal and barbaric attack with their unity, cohesion, and awareness.
Al-Araji said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “We remember with great pain the tenth of June of the year 2014, when the terrorist ISIS gangs raped the city of Mosul in a fierce attack that targeted people and land, through a plan to fragment the unity, cohesion and coexistence of Iraqis.”
The statement explained, “As we recall this painful history, we proudly remember how the Iraqis confronted this brutal and barbaric attack with their unity, cohesion, and awareness, iraq had the final say then, as the people joined forces with their armed forces in all their branches, the Popular Mobilization Forces, the Peshmerga forces, the Counter-Terrorism Service, and all the sacrifices.”
It added that,”the religious authority’s historic fatwa served as a banner of truth and a source of support for those who made sacrifices in an epic victory whose pages were written by all Iraqis.”
