US Apache Helicopter Crashes Near Strait of Hormuz

Informed sources told The New York Times that a US Apache helicopter crashed on Monday near the Strait of Hormuz, and its pilots were rescued.

The sources told the American newspaper that it was not immediately clear whether the Apache helicopter was shot down by Iranian fire, suffered a mechanical failure, or encountered another problem.

The newspaper noted that it contacted the administration of US President Donald Trump for comment on the incident, but no updates have yet been issued.

Additional requests for comment were also sent to the spokesperson for US President Donald Trump and to US Central Command (CENTCOM), but neither has yet responded.
