The Ministerial Council for National Security, chaired by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali Faleh al-Zaidi, affirmed today, Monday, the importance of national sovereignty, the state's monopoly on weapons, and holding accountable all those who disrupt security and stability. It also stressed Iraq's firm stance against the use of Iraqi territory and airspace as a launching pad for attacks against neighboring countries.
The spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Sabah al-Nu'man, stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that "Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali Faleh al-Zaidi, chaired an emergency meeting of the Ministerial Council for National Security.”
The statement added that "the meeting included an extensive discussion of the most prominent regional developments and their potential impact on the domestic scene, and a review of precautionary plans to maintain internal stability."
"The meeting witnessed a decisive affirmation of national sovereignty and the state's monopoly on the use of force, as well as holding accountable all those who disrupt security and stability, while emphasizing Iraq's firm stance against the use of Iraqi territory and airspace as a launching pad for attacks on neighboring countries."
Al-Nu'man confirmed that "the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, during the meeting, pointed to the importance of working to maintain regional stability, which positively impacts the country's stability, and issued a number of directives and decisions to ensure a rapid response to any changes in the regional landscape."
