Speaker of Parliament Haibat al-Halbousi and his accompanying delegation concluded their official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on Monday.
The Speaker's media office stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Speaker of Parliament Haibat al-Halbousi and his accompanying delegation concluded their official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The visit included meetings with King Abdullah II, Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives Mazen al-Qadi, Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, and President of the Senate Faisal al-Fayez."
"The meetings addressed ways to strengthen Iraqi-Jordanian relations and develop joint cooperation in various political, economic, and parliamentary fields, while emphasizing the deep fraternal and historical ties that bind the two countries and their brotherly peoples."
According to the statement "The importance of proceeding with the implementation of joint strategic projects was also emphasized, foremost among them the Basra-Aqaba oil pipeline project and the electricity interconnection project, in addition to expanding cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, energy, and transportation, in a way that achieves the common interests of both countries."
It indicated that "the meetings affirmed the importance of strengthening parliamentary coordination and unifying positions in regional and international forums, as well as supporting efforts to consolidate security and stability in the region and confront common challenges, in a way that contributes to strengthening Arab cooperation and serving the interests of the region's peoples."
