U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that recent Iranian strikes would have no impact on ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran, expressing belief that a deal remains possible.
Quoting the Financial Times, Trump said that “(Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu) will have no choice but to accept any deal negotiated by the United States with Iran.”
He added: “I am the one who makes all decisions, and Netanyahu does not make decisions,” stressing that the Iranian strikes “will have no effect on the deal.”
Trump said talks with Iran were still ongoing, adding: “We will see what happens,” and noting that the strikes had not had any significant impact on the negotiation process.
He concluded: “The deal with Iran may succeed or may not succeed, but these strikes will not affect it in any way.”
